INDIAN FARMERS OR COWS–IRONY OF AN INDEPENDENT INDIA:

According to National crime Bureau – about 6000 farmers died in 5 years in Vidharva area of Maharastra. Madhya Pradesh is in sceond number . Orissa is third in the list.  About 2 Lakh (200 thousand) farmers died between-1997-2007. Every 30 min 1 farmers sucide in India.  But this is only the official figure, unofficial or real figure is 57,000 farmers death per year in India. Police registers those cases where media is covering. India`s agricultural production growth rate is 2% only. Numbers of farmers died in 2009 is 17,363.

FARMERS CRY:–
40% of Indian farmers would like to give up farming if they had a choice. Farmers are now feeling like alien in their own country. Most of Indian villages have lack of basic facility like water, electricity, schools & hospitals. So farmers family have no other choice even after sucide their sons are engaged in farming without any hope of future.
The average monthly per capita expenditure of the Indian farm household is just Rs-600 . Of that, 60 per cent roughly was spent on to food and another 18 per cent on fuel, clothing and footwear.five worst affected states– Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh,Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

REASON OF SUICIDE:–
Because of increasing price of seeds & fertilizers they has to take loan . But there is no guarantee of result because Indian farmers are forced to live in a situation where monsoon rain is the key. Due to corruption & state level politics implementation of water facility to farmers are still in process. India is a country where monsoon rainfall is uneven. some parts can witness floods, some can drought & remain can in good situation. & then indebtedness. Also farmer depends on old method of farming using cows rather than tractor because they have no money.900,000 American farmers produce about the same agricultural output as India’s 300,000,000 farmers. Another reason is hole in distribution system, no road in villages & lack of facility of storage .Farmers are forced to sell their food in below cost price because of poor delivery & mechanism system. Undue advantage by local mafia & dealers with the help of local politicians .Some of politicians are taking work from criminals & they are getting money from local businessmen in the name of donation. Other argument is due to increasing price of transport, petrol-diesel, state tax these increases distribution cost upto 50%. so is hard for poor farmer to sell in market. But the irony is that the money sanctioned by Central Government for poor farmers is being digested by corrupt politicians like in Maharastra & Madhya Pradesh.

Around 5 lakh 635 villages in India. Government forcefully taking farmers land in the name of Black Law called Land Acquisition Act that was made by Britishers only to exploit & destroy India. This is giving direct benefit to Industry & politicians, but who cares farmers? Before 1857 almost every Indian farmers had at least 20 Acres of land.

Around 25 Crore sugar Farmers in India. 38 % fertile agriculture land in India. But farmers forced to sell Rs-250/ 100 KG sugarcane in India, but industry sells Rs-35/Kg sugar in India, Shocking ?

The Green Revolution—
The Green Revolution has come under increasing criticism from environmentalists for its heavy use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Some environmentalists go so far as to describe the Green Revolution as an unmitigated disaster. Now the problem in India is farmers has to pay huge amount of money for Fertilizer (urea) & insecticide . Before 1857 in India farmers were using natural fertilizers from cow dung & natural insecticide from herbs (neem, pudina, tulsi). Excess use of chemicals can destroy farm land.

Government Hypocrisy:– Indian government is giving lots of bailout packages as well as stimlus packages in the name of poor farmers. But all these are hypocrisy by government & vote bank politics. This year government has given Rs-60,000 crore , but given to those banks & micro-finance companies who provided loans & seeds to farmers. Already banks assumed those in bad-debs, but government has given only to maintain current account balance. Also in some cases brokers are cheating to farmers , providing wrong seeds & fertilisers. Sometimes government is giving bailout package to coldstorage vendors in the name of farmers.
